In 2005/06 Tomas Netopil makes his concert debuts with renowned orchestras, such as London Philharmonic Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Staatsorchester Stuttgart. In Italy he conducts four important opera productions, Nozze di Figaro at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genova, Fidelio at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Entführung aus dem Serail at the Teatro Regio Torino and Lucio Silla at the Teatro La Fenice Venezia in a staging by Jürgen Flimm. Tomas Netopil will make his debut conducting this Lucio Silla production at the Salzburger Festspiele in July 2006.

Other season highlights are concerts with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, the Staatskapelle Weimar, at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genova (Mozart-cycle), Teatro Regio Parma, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.

In 2004/05 Tomas Netopil made his debut with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich and the Filarmonica della Scala, conducted the new production of Cosi fan tutte at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genova and the final concerts of the Mozart-Festival at the Accademia Santa Cecilia Roma. He inaugurated the concert season at the Teatro Regio Parma and conducted several concerts at the Teatro Comunale Bologna, Teatro Lirico Cagliari, Teatro La Fenice Venezia and with the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk at the Gewandhaus Leipzig.

On the invitation of David Zinman, Tomas Netopil worked for the first time with the Cleveland Orchestra at the Aspen Festival in Colorado, where he returned as “assistant conductor” in 2005.

In May 2004 he made his debut at the Prague Spring Festival , and, immediately after that, he conducted Dvorak-Stabat Mater at the Grosses Festspielhaus Salzburg. Furthermore he conducted in 2003/04 the season opening production of Flotow´s Martha at the Wiener Volksoper, Janacek´s Cunning little Vixen at the Teatro de la Maestranza Sevilla and concerts with the Staatskapelle Weimar, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Prague Philharmonia, Janacek Philharmonic and the Talich Chamber Orchestra .

Tomas Netopil studied violin in his home town in the Czech republic and conducting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under Prof. Juri BÄ›lohlávek , Prof. F. Vajnar, as well as at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with the famous Prof. Jorma Panula, who educated many prominent conductors. In 2002 he won the 1st Sir Georg Solti Conductors Competition at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, where the jury included Michael Gielen, Gary Bertini, Sylvain Cambreling and Paolo Carignani.
